Two men were arrested as a result of a saturation detail Wednesday in the southern areas of Madison County.
Earl T. Holmes Jr., 30, of 32 Vieux Carre Drive, in East St. Louis, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver and unlawful use of a weapon. A vehicle driven by Holmes was stopped for having tinted windows on Broadway, near Illinois 3, in Venice. As a result of the stop, Holmes was found to be in possession of more than 20 grams of crack cocaine, more than 200 grams of cannabis and a 9 mm handgun, according to Madison County Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells.
Emanuel K. Jenkins Jr., 23, of 287 Andes Drive in Glen Carbon, was a passenger in the car. He was on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections, which was violated as a result of the traffic stop.
Both men were taken to the Madison County Jail. Bail was set at $75,000 each.
From 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday law enforcement officials saturated neighborhoods. The following agencies participated: Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois, United States Marshal's Office, Grantfork Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
