The United Way of Greater St. Louis is distributing more than $58.6 million in donated funds to 184 health and human service agencies, grants, initiatives and special funding projects throughout the region.

"We had an incredible fundraising campaign," said Doug Yaeger, 2009 United Way board chairman and chairman, president and chief executive officer of The Laclede Group Inc.

Each United Way-funded agency is reviewed yearly by a panel of volunteers in the areas of finance, program, governance and administration. Almost 400 volunteers then determine how the funding from United Way is distributed.
