EAST ST. LOUIS -- Work is under way on a new sports bar and restaurant at the Casino Queen.
The $2.15 million, 6,250-square-foot addition is being constructed next to the gaming floor at the casino. It will take the place of the former Club Sevens, which was located in the original Casino Queen Visitor's Center.
Casino marketing director Todd Ribick said Thursday the new venue will be known as Sevens and will have a stage that will feature weekly live entertainment.
"It's kind of a multi-faceted room," Ribick said. "The best way to describe it is that it's a sports-theme bar, a great place to catch the game and to hang out before and after the game, those who go to the game park here and use MetroLink. So it's a great place for after the game."
Ribick also said the bar and restaurant will include historical memorabilia from the St. Louis Cardinals Museum collection. He said the new venue will create 35 new full-time jobs by the time it opens this fall.
"It's hard to pinpoint an exact date at this point," he said. "We are in early stages of construction."
