EAST ST. LOUIS -- Police were called to Loisel Village Saturday afternoon by a woman who reported her husband, who is an East St. Louis police officer, was beating her.

The woman called back to the police station four minutes later.

"She declined to provide her name," Chief Lenzie Stewart said. "She advised us her husband had left the house."

Stewart also confirmed that the husband, who he would not identify, is an East St. Louis police officer.

Stewart declined any further comment saying the woman has declined to press charges.
