Some of the first students to get an education at Belleville's Cathedral Grade School donated computer equipment to the school to ensure a quality education for its students today.

"We're just so impressed that they thought of us," Principal Kay Bennett said of the class of 1959, the school's first graduating class.

Bennett said members of the class of 1959 were so impressed with the school's technology on a recent tour for their 50th anniversary celebration that they took it upon themselves to donate a computer slate to the school.

The slate allows teachers to be mobile in the classroom while working with interactive white boards to teach instead of only being able to work where the computer for the white boards is stationed.

Bennett said she hopes the donation will prompt other classes to give back to the school.

"We can't thank them enough for not only being the first class but also for just allowing us to keep on providing a quality education," she said. ...
