One of the most versatile girls basketball players in the metro-east is Highland’s Emily Michael.
The 6-foot senior forward-center literally can do it all.
Michael is the Bulldogs leading scorer (15 points per game) and rebounder (5.7 per game). She also leads the Bulldogs in assists with 45 and blocked shots with 14, and she is second in steals with 39.
Michael is capable of scoring inside or outside as she showed by hitting a 3-pointer to cap a 16-6 run in the third quarter of the Bulldogs’ 57-49 win over the Hillsboro Hilltoppers on Wednesday night in the Scott Credit Union/Highland Tournament.
“I’m comfortable with her out at the 3-point line because she is a great shooter,’’ Highland coach Stephanie Harris said. “She has the OK most times, as long its the right time when she takes those shots.’’
Michael finished with 21 points for the Bulldogs.
“Always comes to play,’’ Harris said of Michael. “She has some nights that are better than others. When she is rolling, she is rolling, and we keep looking to her when she is really rolling.’’
