A Fairview Heights restaurant has suddenly left town.

Hometown Buffet at 10850 Lincoln Trail, located at Crossroads Centre, closed its doors last Thursday. A manager from one of the chain's restaurants in St. Louis could not confirm the reason for the closure.

A Fairview Heights drive-through car wash has washed its last car.

Danny's Car Wash at 5709 N. Illinois St. has gone out of business. However, Danny's Express Car Wash in Collinsville is still up and running at 333 N. Bluff Road. You can call them at 344-7661.

Wendy's old-fashioned hamburgers and Frosties are now ready to order in Fairview Heights.

The Ohio-based fast-food chain has opened at 6204 N. Illinois St., between Quizno's and Smokey Bones Barbecue & Grill. This restaurant is the latest to return to the metro-east area after all but one closed over five years ago.

In 2006, WenAmerica LLC in Chesterfield, Mo. closed its 51 restaurants -- most of which were located in the St. Louis area. The one that survived is at 6104 Center Grove Road in Edwardsville, which was owned by another franchiser.

Since then, Wendy's has reopened at 2638 N. Illinois St. in Swansea and new ones have been added at 5959 Belleville Crossing, 2600 Green Mount Commons in Belleville and 1061 Collinsville Crossing in Collinsville.

You can reach the new Fairview Heights locale at 628-6984.

A Belleville concert hall will host its last performance at the end of the month. Illegal Tone Records at 6 and 8 S. Church St. will close its doors after a final event planned for Jan. 31. Co-owner Eric Wolfe said the hall also included a recording studio when it opened in September 2007 but has solely operated as a live entertainment venue during the past two years after city leaders cited safety concerns over the recording studio.

You may have read last week that a downtown Belleville camera retailer Marvin's Camera is closing after more than six decades. Owner Roger Agne said he is retiring and will close his doors after business Feb. 29. He has worked at the downtown Belleville camera store his entire life. His father, and store's namesake, Marvin Agne, opened for business 61 years ago. Marvin operated the store until his death in 1967.

Through next month, you can still reach Roger at the store by calling 233-4810.

A privately held financial services firm has established a new office in O'Fallon. St. Louis-based Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. has opened at 475 Regency Park, Suite 125. The firm is led by Benjamin F. "Tad" Edwards IV, who is the great-great grandson of A.G. Edwards, founder of A.G. Edwards Inc. in St. Louis. A.G. Edwards Inc. was sold to Wachovia Securities in 2007 and was later acquired by Wells Fargo Advisors. In 2008, Edwards IV established Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. Today, the firm has 22 offices nationwide. You can call the new metro-east office at 624-1500 or toll free at 855-624-1500.

And finally, a Maryville hair salon has been recognized by an Italian magazine for its "green" ways. Studio Eleven at 2921 N. Center St. was named as one of the top 20 international Eco-Friendly Salons by Estetica Magazine for what the metro-east salon does to help the environment. This salon recycles and shreds its paper and then donates it to the Madison County Humane Society for animal bedding. The business also donates magazines to the art department at Granite City High School, gives clients a $1 credit for returning empty shampoo bottles for recycling, and recycles all plastic bottles, cardboard and cans. For more information, call the salon at 288-7114.
