Police are hoping someone will recognize the four women featured in a cell phone video who attacked a waitress at Red Lobster in late December.

The women attacked a waitress at the restaurant around 6 p.m. on Dec. 30. The waitress, 25, was injured in the attack and had to take a couple of days off work to recover, said Fairview Heights Detective Tim Mueller. She received a swollen eye and lacerations to her face, nose and forehead.

"Another customer at the restaurant saw it happening, clicked on her phone video and caught it all," Mueller said. "We're releasing the video now because we haven't been able to identify them. Every once in a while you have a customer dispute, but it very rarely comes to violence."

Two of the suspects are in their 20s and the other two are believed to be in their 40s. Police believe the four women may be mother and daughter teams.

They attacked the waitress because they weren't happy with their service when the order brought by the waitress was wrong.

"One of them threw a drink in the waitress's face," Mueller said. "Then she got pushed into another table and all four of them jumped on her."

The four women punched the waitress and pulled her hair before employees and patrons of the restaurant were able to pull the server to safety.

The women paid for their meals with cash before they left the restaurant.

If the attackers are caught, police expect to charge them with battery and mob action.

Anyone with any information about the identification of the women in the video is asked to call the Fairview Heights Police Department at (618) 489-2100.
