Walter H. Wieseman, 82, of Bethalto, formerly of Prairietown, died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at his home.
A funeral service was be held on Feb. 3 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Prairietown, with the Rev. Dale Skeesick and the Rev. Martin Schulz officiating. Burial was in Prairietown Cemetery. Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton was in charge of arrangements.
He was born on June 16, 1929 in Dorsey to Otto and Frieda (Schriber) Wieseman. On Aug. 27, 1950, he married Margery Steiner. She preceded him in death on May 7, 1992. On Jan. 17, 1993, he married Lorraine Hering Johnson, and she survives in Bethalto.
Mr. Wieseman was a self-employed farmer and also a mailman for 17 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Bunker Hill.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Wood River and a former member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Prairietown.
Other survivors include daughters, Shirley (William) Hanks of Bunker Hill and Kathleen (David) Jackson of Jackson, Mo.; sons, Craig (Jennifer) Wieseman of Highland and Bradley (Kathy) Wieseman of Alton; a step-son, Terry (Barbara) Johnson of Worden; grandchildren, Leah, Matthew, Patrick, Ryan, Sam, Katherine, Meagan, Keith, Chris, Rachel and Emily; great-grandchildren, Allyson, Nicholas, Mitchell, Luke, Timothy, Trent, Jett and Grace; a brother, Harold Wieseman of Bunker Hill.
He was also preceded death by his parents; a step-son, Michael L. Johnson; and a step-daughter, Vicki L. Leonhardt.
