Fairview Heights McDonald's to close temporarily

Published: June 19, 2012

Another metro-east McDonald's restaurant will be renovating and updating its look.

The McDonald's at 6300 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights will close for business at 2 p.m. Sunday so it can be cleared out and demolished for a new one. Ground-breaking is scheduled for June 27.

Local franchise owner Gary Peck said the Fairview Heights location opened in 1971 and construction of the new building is expected to take 90 to 100 days.

A McDonald's in Swansea is in the midst of a major reconstruction project, but it has remained open during the work.
