ST. LOUIS — GCS Ballpark in Sauget will be the site of the inaugural Jeff Fisher and Friends Celebrity Softball Game on July 26.
The event, which will include a little league game, home run derby, celebrity softball game and post-game fireworks show, will benefit five charities: The BackStoppers, The Snow Foundation, Mercy Ministries, Wounded Warriors Project and Catch-A-Dream Foundation.
Before taking the job as the St. Louis Rams' coach this winter, Fisher hosted an annual softball game in Nashville to benefit charities and engage fans.
It was important to Fisher that he continues the tradition in St. Louis.
"In my short time in St. Louis, I have been impressed with the charitable spirit of the folks that I have had the opportunity to meet," Fisher said. "I have always believed in the power of sports to raise awareness and funds for charities and as head coach of the Rams, that commitment will continue. The softball game will be a fun night at the ballpark for families and a great way to kickoff training camp. I think the fans will enjoy seeing their favorite Rams in a different environment."
A long list of current NFL and former players, including retired wide receiver Torry Holt, will participate in the game.
Current players who have confirmed their participation include Danny Amendola, Cortland Finnegan, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Gibson, James Laurinaitis, Quintin Mikell, Brit Miller, Austin Pettis, Robert Quinn, Rodger Saffold and Darian Stewart.
The Rams' cheerleaders and team mascot Rampage also will be available for autographs and photos.
Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a little league game followed by a celebrity home run derby at 6:30 p.m.
The softball game is at 7:30 p.m. and concludes with a fireworks display.
