The following incidents were listed among the official reports of local law enforcement agencies and court clerks. Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
BELLEVILLE POLICE
MONDAY, JULY 9
11:04 p.m. Traffic stop, possession of a controlled substance -- 100 block of Liberty Drive. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested during a traffic stop after officers discovered both had controlled substances in the vehicle. Both subjects were transported, booked and transported to the St. Clair County Jail and held pending furhter investigation.
11:34 p.m. Home invasion, homicide -- 600 block of East McKinley. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance with a male subject with blood all over him running out of a residence screaming for help. Upon arrival officers made contact with one and discovered that he and his girlfriend had been attacked and stabbed inside the residence by two black male subjects who entered the residence. Officers entered the residence and discovered the woman deceased and two young children in another room. The suspects fled the scene before police arrival, but officers searching area located a suspect near the intersection of East McKinley and Forrest. The suspect was transported to headquarters and held pending further investigation. The male victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
TUESDAY, JULY 10
1:12 a.m. Battery -- Phillips 66 Gas Station, 1001 E. Main St. An employee reported he was struck in the face by an unknown subject after the victim refused to sell him alcohol without identification. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
1:52 a.m. Aggravated battery -- 200 block of Freedom Drive. The victim reported he was struck in the back of the head with a brick by an unknown suspect int he parking lot of the apartment complex. The victim was intoxicated and uncooperative with officers. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
1:55 a.m. Domestic battery -- 8500 block of West Main Street. The victim reported her husband pulled her arm through the doorway of the residence and slammed the door on it. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
2:33 a.m. Disturbance, fugitive arrest -- Mascoutah and Belle Valley. Dominique Lyons, 26, was arrested when officers responded to a report of a disturbance int he roadway and discovered she had an active warrant out of St. Clair County.
2:49 p.m. Burglary to vehicle -- 1000 block of Belle Valley Drive. The victim reported walking out to her vehicle and discovering damage to the passenger side door and items missing from the vehicle.
7:03 a.m. Burglary to vehicle -- 1000 block of Belle Valley Drive. The victim reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and property was stolen.
8 a.m. Burglary to vehicle -- 1000 block of Belle Valley Drive. The victim reported someone forcibly entered her vehicle.
11:39 a.m. Investigation retail theft, possession of cannabis -- 500 block of Freeburg Avenue. An officer observed a vehicle and driver in the 500 block of Freeburg that were involved in a retail theft from July 9 at Walmart. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found the driver/suspect to be in possession of cannabis. The suspect was arrested, transported, booked and held pending further investigation.
12:38 p.m. Burglary to vehicle -- 600 block of South Missouri. The victim reported sometime overnight, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and property was stolen.
2:02 p.m. Fraud -- Sears, 653 Carlyle Ave. The store manager reported an employee allegedly rang up several gift cards on his register; however he never accepted any cash for the cards. The gift cards were then used on the internet and in the Sears store in Fairview Heights.
2:10 p.m. Fraud -- State Finance, 29 E. Main St. The reporting party stated an employee allegedly opened fraudulent accounts to obtain money from the company.
6:16 p.m. Disorderly conduct -- 300 block of Centreville Avenue. Lisa Wilson, 49, was arrested for fighting, after she struck the victim in the face during an altercation between the two of them. Wilson was released from the scene with a notice to appear.
9:03 p.m. Possible discharge of a firearm -- Bellevue Park, 401 Bellevue Park Drive. Officers responded to a report of shots fired int he area of Bellevue Park.
11:05 p.m. Hit and run, driving under the influence -- Illinois 161 and Frank Scott Parkway West. Emily Jost, 30, was arrested after she struck a vehicle, fled the scene of the accident and then wrecked her car again. Jost appeared to be intoxicated and an open container of alcohol was located in the vehicle. Officers performed field sobriety tests, which Jost failed. On taking Jost into custody, officers located drug paraphernalia. Jost was transported, booked and released after posting bond.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 11
12:12 a.m. Domestic battery -- 400 block of South 16th Street. The victim reported she returned home and discovered her boyfriend/suspect had forced entry to her residence; he knocked her to the ground, took items, and fled the scene.
10:36 a.m. Traffic stop, driving suspended -- 700 block of North Illinois Street. Latory Lofton, 34, was arrested during a traffic stop after officers leanred she had a suspended driver's licnese. Lofton was transported and held pending bond.
12:10 p.m. Unlawful use of a credit card -- Kmart, 7230 Westfield Plaza. The victim reported her grandson allegedly stole her credit card and used it at several locations in the area, including Kmart.
ST. CLAIR COUNTY FELONIES
WEDNESDAY, JULY 11
Diane R. Vineyard, 47, of 899 Pleasant View Drive, Apt. B., Fairview Heights, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on July 9 th St. Clair County sheriff. Vineyard allegedly had in her possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
Daniel R. Tobin, 27, of 1108 Scheel St., Belleville, arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving while license revoked on July 11 by Fairview Heights police. Tobin allegedly drove a gray 1994 GMC Jimmy on Illinois 159 in Fairview Heights, while the defendant was under the influence of alcohol and during a period in which the defendan'ts driving privileges were revoked.
Christopher E. Ward Jr., 20, of 3903 Marie, Belleville, arrested on suspicion of retail theft, subsequent on July 10 by Cahokia police. Ward allegedly took merchandise from Walmart, 1511 Camp Jackson Road, Cahokia, being one Call of Duty Playstation 3 game, total retail value not in excess of $300. Defendant had been previously convicted of retail theft subsequent on Oct. 13, 2009.
Wardell D. Williams, 24, of 600 St. Cecilia Drive, Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of unlawful failure to renew address registration as sex offender on June 14 by Cahokia police. Williams allegedly failed to renew registration in accordance with provisions of the Sex Offender Registration Act, with Cahokia police, within 90 days of last registration, and failure to renew registration as a sex offender on Feb. 18, 2009.
George E. Charlton IV, 26, of 1228 Williams St., Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of retail theft subsequent offense on June 24 by Cahokia police. Charlton allegedly took merchandise without paying from Walmart, 1511 Camp Jackson Road, Cahokia, being one USB cord, total retail value not in excess of $300. Defendant had been previously convicted of theft on Nov. 19, 2007.
Anthony M. Walker, 46, of 1618 Missouri Ave., East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of burglary on June 11 by East St. Louis police. Walker allegedly entered a building The Bond Market of Mohommed Khadhier, 1140 Bond Ave., East St. Louis, with the intent to commit theft.
John M. Cole, 23, of 1101 Lebanon Ave., Belleville, arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, home invasion and attempted first-degree murder on July 9 by Belleville police. Cole allegedly while committing a forcible felony, home invasion, stabbed Lenae Cole in the neck and thereby caused her death; entered the dwellingplace of Lenae Cole, 607 E. McKinley St., Apt. A, Belleville, knowing Lenae Cole to be present and intentionally caused injury to Lenae Cole in that said defendant stabbed Lenae Cole in the neck; with the intent to commit first degree murder, performed a substantial step toward the commission of that offence in that John Cole stabbed Xzavion O'Neal repeatedly about the body.
Garfield J. Fenton, 20, of 1516 Ohio, East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of first degree murder and home invasion on July 9 by Belleville police. Fenton allegedly while committing a forcible felony, home invasion, stabbed Lenae Cole int he neck causing her death; entered the dwelling of Lenae Cole, 67 E. McKinley St., Apt. A, Belleville, knowing Lenae Cole to be presnet, intentionally caused injury to Lenae Cole in that said defendant stabbed Lenae Cole in the neck.
