Cahokia — A 43-year-old Fairview Heights man was charged Sunday with first-degree murder in the killing of 44-year-year-old Cahokia woman who was found stabbed to death in the driveway of her home Saturday morning.
Michael J. Armstrong, of Fairview Heights, was charged Sunday afternoon with the murder of Marguerita Harmon, his girlfriend. He is currently being held by police on a $1 million bond.
Cahokia Police Chief James Jones said the cooperation the Police Department received from the public helped them to wrap up the case so quickly. He said his investigative unit worked diligently on the case and he commended their solid work.
Police found Harmon's lifeless body was found laying on the ground in the driveway of her home after a 911 call came in to the department shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday.
"She had multiple stab wounds on her body," Jones said.

Police recovered the murder weapon at the scene, Jones said.
