Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville evacuated the campus Thursday morning after a hand-written bomb threat was found on the premises.
College spokesman Mike Fleming said a student found the threat at about 7:50 a.m. Thursday written on one of the bathroom stalls inside a men's restroom on the first floor of the main building. Classes were canceled for the rest of the day Thursday and will resume Friday morning, Fleming said.
No injuries were reported Thursday. Fleming said the incident is being "thoroughly investigated.
"I would call it standard procedure," Fleming said. "It is under investigation."
Classes and activities at the Red Bud and Sam Wolf Granite City campuses, Programs and Services for Older Persons department, the East St. Louis Community College Center and Scott Air Force Base are meeting Thursday as scheduled.
In January, another bomb threat was reported at the Belleville campus and students were evacuated. There were no injuries reported in that incident.
