A Granite City woman was killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday night in Collinsville.
Cindy Anderson, 52, was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by her husband, Michael Anderson, 62, also of Granite City, around 9:20 p.m. in the 9500 block of Collinsville Road when the motorcycle was cut off by another vehicle. The Andersons were thrown from the motorcycle, according to Collinsville Police Major Tom Coppotelli.
The vehicle, which was driven by a 25-year-old Collinsville man, pulled out of the Rural King parking lot into the path of the motorcycle which was traveling westbound on Collinsville Road.
Michael Anderson was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, and Cindy Anderson was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured seriously.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by an accident re-constructionist from the Collinsville Police Department.
No charges have been filed.
