A local sub sandwich franchise will open a second restaurant soon in Troy.
Co-owner Shawn Poettgen said her and her business partner plan to another Subliminal Grilled Subs & More, this one in Troy, as soon as this week. Their first initially opened the first a year ago at 729-C Highway 50 in O'Fallon. The new one will be located in a pre-existing building at 904 Edwardsville Road in Troy.
Another franchisee owns a third restaurant in the chain at 141 S. Main St. in Waterloo.
Poettgen said a fourth restaurant is planned to open near St. Louis University. Stay tuned.
Now open in Troy is the newest locale for Joe's Pizza and Pasta. Located in Suite 200 at 904 Edwardsville Road, Joe's is known for its pizzas and pastas that feature homemade sauces as well as sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The show is will go back on at the Lory Theater in Highland. City Manager Mark Latham said that Justin and Hillary McLaughlin will purchase and plan to close on the sale of the nearly century-old theater at 810 Main St. by the end of the month. AMC, which is selling the property to the couple, initially wanted about $460,000 for the building, but eventually agreed to sell it for $100,000, Latham said, because the of the building's dilapidated state. Latham said the McLaughlins have a background in home theater installation and plan to renovate the old theater and update it with digital projectors. The theater had closed last year.
The party is over for a metro-east party supply business. Hometown Party has closed its doors at 1225 Thouvenot Lane in Shiloh after 25 years in business. The retailer had moved and opened at that location five years ago.
Belleville engineering firm Kaskaskia Engineering Group has moved and reopened in a new site downtown. Geri Boyer has relocated her business a couple of blocks from 23 Public Square to 208 E. Main St., inside a building that she and her husband already own. The couple operate the engineering firm on the first floor, continue to run their bed and breakfast, Silverstein Suite LLC, on the second and the Writers' Lofts residences upstairs. The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting event for the new office at 4 p.m. on Aug. 30. You can reach them at 233-5877.
