East St. Louis Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Garden Grill, during which an employee was shot.

Police Chief Michael Floore said two gunmen wearing ski masks went into the business just before 11 p.m. and announced a robbery. One employee was shot in the arm when a gunman opened fire.

The employee's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Floore said.

Police said customers were inside at the time of the robbery, but no customers were shot or injured.

Police found ski masks and some clothing, believed to be used by the robbers, behind the East St. Louis Senior High School building.

Floore said police were reviewing surveillance video.

Police did not release information about how much money was taken. The business is at 49th and State streets.

Anyone with information is asked to call the East St. Louis Police Department at 482-6700 or CrimeStoppers toll-free at 866-371-8477.
