Gill campaign airs first radio spot

Published: September 4, 2012

Dr. David Gill, the Democratic nominee for the 13th U.S. House District seat, launched his first radio spot of the general election contest with an advertisement focused on protecting Medicare and promoting tax fairness for the middle-class.

The 60-second ad is airing on more than 20 radio stations across the new 13th Congressional District, which stretches across 14 counties from Madison County in the west, to Champaign County near the Indiana border, and includes Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Maryville and parts of Collinsville. "Does it seem like Congress is for sale to the highest bidder?" the radio spot's narrator asks. "This year we can do something about it. We can elect a new congressman who's never been on a public payroll. Or taken orders from a politician. Emergency room doctor David Gill...Dr. David Gill will demand that millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, just like teachers, cops and nurses." Gill, of Bloomington, is running against GOP nominee Rodney Davis, Taylorville, for the seat held by incumbent U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Champaign, who is retiring to spend more time with family after 11 years in office.
