Police are continuing their search for the body of an unidentified St. Louis woman who jumped off the Eads Bridge Sunday morning.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said police believe the unnamed black female is in her 50s.
"We have not located the body but we have found her personal items which we located in the water," Floore said.
The woman jumped in the middle of the bridge and the current dragged her body under the water. Floore said after the current took the body the search was called off Sunday.
East St. Louis police and the Coast Guard will resume the search Monday, Floore said.
The U.S. Coast Guard was called in after witnesses reported seeing the woman jump from the bridge about 11:30 a.m., Floore said.
Floore would not identify the victim; he did not know whether family members have been notified.
St. Louis Metropolitan police also are involved in the investigation, Floore said.
