Qualifications: For the past 35 years, I have served our community and our country, first on active duty in the Air Force and in the Air Force Reserve and then the Army National Guard. I rose to the rank of Major General and was appointed the state's top military commander, where I fought to keep bases and armories open in Illinois, standing up for jobs in the community. In my younger years, I worked on the assembly line at the same Caterpillar plant where my father worked. I know what it's like to have to stretch every dollar to make ends meet, but I am the only candidate running in this race with the experience and leadership skills to ensure Southern Illinois puts its best foot forward and we climb out of the hole we are in now.
