Qualifications: I am a businessman, not a politician. Since I took office in 2010, I have honored my pledge to get Illinois working the right way by cutting my own pay 10 percent, refused to accept a pension, fought to reduce state spending and passed a bill to audit the Workers' Compensation system which uncovered millions of abused taxpayer dollars. I pledge to continue to use by business experience to make common sense decisions while maintaining accountability as state representative in District 112.

Top issues: 1. Keep and create jobs in Illinois by lowering taxes and fees on business, pass workers' compensation reform and lawsuit abuse reform. 2. Stop the 67 percent income tax hike. Just hours before I was sworn into office, my predecessor voted for a 67 percent income tax hike. This is the reason we're losing jobs to border states. If re-elected, I will vote to repeal the 67 percent income tax hike. 3. Cut wasteful spending. We deserve a government that will be as frugal with our tax dollars as families must be every day. And that means reducing state spending. During my first term in office, I co-sponsored House Resolution 110 to help Illinois get back on the right track and stop wasteful spending. H.R. 110 required the State of Illinois to only spend what it has in the bank and not a penny more -- a principle I will continue as state representative.
