Qualifications: The office of coroner is a law enforcement office involving the investigation of suspicious deaths. I have 38 years experience in law enforcement and have been involved in thousands of death investigations between my 26 years with the Madison County Sheriff's Department and 12 years as coroner. I have been extensively trained in death investigation at least twice and sometime three times a year for the past 12 years. I am also a certified diplomat with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) and a founding member of the Society of Medicolegal Death Investigators (SOMDI). I am currently the president of the Illinois Coroners and Medical Examiners Association.
