Qualifications: I am board certified by the Illinois Association of County Boards. As the only member of the Madison County Board to earn this certification, I committed the time to attend seminars and training sessions offered by the Illinois Association of County Boards and the University of Illinois Extension on the topics relating to county governance. I am a graduate of the U of I with a degree in management. My work in private industry as a human resource executive has given me a background in leadership which has helped me with my county board duties. Madison County is a major employer and the need for board members with practical private industry experience is real. My approach is one of problem solving and collaboration. I strongly feel that the board must work together to solve problems and serve our communities. I work with all board members regardless of party affiliation to get this work done for our taxpayers.
Top issues: Glen Carbon has been named by Money Magazine as a top 100 place to live. Our library is award winning and the school district is growing and a district of choice in the St. Louis area. I continue to work to keep county government efficient and effective. Since I have been on the board, we have met the challenges of a tough economy by keeping the county lean and working to keep taxes as low as possible. The county has very little debt, runs a balanced budget and has maintained a surplus for investment income to help offset the tax burden. These times demand that we run local government efficiently to keep the tax burden as low as possible. This is my mission and I understand how important this is to local businesses and homeowners. I pledge to continue my work to do the important work of county government in a cost effective manner.
