Qualifications: I am not an incumbent politician. I offer a fresh set of eyes to look at the problems facing St. Clair County. As a small business owner, I have real life business experience. I am a fiscal conservative and will make sure the taxpayers' money is managed wisely.
Top issues: MidAmerica Airport has lost more than $134 million since it was built. The taxpayers' money continues to be gambled on passenger and cargo deals that never succeed. It is time to focus on paying off the airport debt and appointing an independent airport committee to oversee the management of the facility. Unemployment in St. Clair County hit 10.8 percent in July. Our national reputation as a "judicial hellhole" drives businesses and jobs away. Not only have we driven away doctors and manufacturers, union members have seen their jobs dry up, too. Unfortunately, we have no leadership right now on this issue. Our one-party political system helps those who are politically connected but does very little to help others find work. While communities in surrounding counties and states are seeing an economic rebound, we continue to lag behind. I believe we can make St. Clair County great again and restore our reputation as the best place to work and live in Southern Illinois.
