Education: University of Illinois; Police Training Institute; School of Medicolegal Death Investigation, Saint Louis University; Sam Houston State University Investigative Services; Lecturer and completed 40 hour coroner's training course
Previous offices: St. Clair County coroner for 27 years
Qualifications: My background in law enforcement and my experience as the St. Clair County coroner make me especially qualified for the position. I spent 12 years as a police officer in East St. Louis, 10 years working homicide. I have spent my whole life in law enforcement. I have studied investigative techniques and I have trained coroners across the state on how to implement fundamental investigative principles into their office. I also have lectured at area colleges and for the Air Force. I have served as the president of the Illinois Coroners Association, leading statewide reforms that have greatly improved the training and professionalism of coroners. I presently serve on the Major Case Squad and as a panelist on the Coroner's Advisory Committee of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
Top issues: It is very simple. It comes down to one word: Experience.
