Qualifications: My business experience as an owner and general manager of an award-winning manufactured home community provides a unique leadership perspective. We groom our properties, develop and maintain our roads, water and sewer. I understand budgetary issues, the justification for investment spending and the need for good maintenance practices to improve property values and ensure quality neighborhoods. I have served on the St. Clair County Zoning Board of Appeals for the past 20 years with the endeavor to respect the needs of all citizens while protecting the long-term interests of our community. As a current board member of Hospice of Southern Illinois, I have had the opportunity to work with people who are passionately driven to look after the needs of families during crucial end of life care.
Top issues: Finding a long term solution for Mid America Airport deficit, which was $8.4 million in 2011. Effective representation to facilitate property tax appeals, improve our infrastructure and implement sound zoning actions. Improvement of home values and the need to create safe neighborhood environments that help support a quality school system. Responsible, disciplined oversight of the county budget and spending practices. I will not accept a salary of $19,400, but instead will return the money to support meaningful projects associated with District 14. I do not support board pensions and will not enroll in the program.
