Education: Associate's in funeral service management

Previous offices: Germantown Fire Chief

Qualifications: I have been involved in EMS for 25 years with the past 16 as a paramedic working for MedStar Ambulance in Belleville and Breese EMS. I have also been working part-time for the past 10 years at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden and am currently finishing my apprenticeship as a funeral director and embalmer. I have experienced many situations during the past 25 years dealing with death, grief and the pain a family feels during the sudden loss of a loved one. I am medically experienced to recognize certain things at a death scene as well as being able to comfort those who are hurting from the death of a family member. I enjoy what I do for a living at the funeral home and am very excited to serve the citizens of Clinton County as their coroner.

Top issues: I can't say that their are any certain issues involving this year's coroner's race. My main focus is letting the people of Clinton County know that this position goes way beyond a death scene. It is so important that the family left behind is taken care of with any type of aftercare programs they may need. My job will not stop at the notification of a death but continue for months to help families heal from a very traumatic time in their life. It's all about the ones left behind.
