Qualifications: Experience. I was appointed in December 2010 and within weeks of my appointment, I assisted in one of the most highly publicized trials in Monroe County history. I executed my duties with the utmost professionalism. Prior to my appointment, I had accumulated 30 years of public service, including 13 years as an employee for the Illinois Secretary of State's Waterloo Division of Motor Vehicles. During my tenure, I achieved the position of manager before becoming the Monroe County circuit clerk. My experience as facility manager well prepared me for the office I now hold.
Top issues: The top issue is fiscal responsibility. As Monroe County circuit clerk, I have vowed to stay within the budgetary guidelines set forth for my office. I have slashed my own budget by $17,000 without any interruption of services provided to the public. I feel that it is my responsibility to be a good steward to the Monroe County taxpayers during these tough economic times.
