Collinsville Italian Fest Parade begins at 4 p.m. Saturday

Collinsville's 2012 Italian Fest Parade will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in Collinsville.

"Once again, one of the top parades in the metro-east is set to begin the Saturday of the Italian Fest," said parade chairman David Amsden. "Join us as 50-plus floats, trolleys, trucks and more litter the streets with candy."

Collinsville also is gearing up to host the 24th annual Italian Fest 5K Run/Walk and Pedal Push on Saturday.

The event begins at 8 a.m. in uptown Collinsville. Live music will greet runners at the finish line and awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers and the top three finishers in each age group.

Registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $30.

The Kids' Fun Run will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the Diaper Dash begins at 11 a.m. for those under one year old.

Finally, the Paisan Pedal Push bike race begins at 11:59 p.m. at the Collinsville Memorial Library at 318 W. Main St.
