Annual Milk Bowl football showdown is named Rams Game of the Week

Published: September 19, 2012

While the annual Milk Bowl football game between rivals Central and Mater Dei is always a big deal in Clinton County, it’s about to become a little bigger.
The game was chosen as St. Louis Rams/National Guard Game of the Week in voting on the Rams’ web site. With more than 114, 400 votes cast, Mater Dei-Central was the clear winner with 61 percent of the vote.
Game time is 7 p.m. Friday at Central High School near Breese. Mater Dei has won the last eight Milk Bowls, including a 28-13 victory last season.
It will be broadcast live on KSLG-AM 1380 and a live one-hour pregame radio show on the High School Sports Caravan will be simulcast on 1380 and KFNS-AM 590.
In addition, the winning coach from the Game of the Week will be named St. Louis Rams High School Coach of the Week and the school’s football program receives a $2,000 grant from the Rams and Charter Cable.
