U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Springfield, and Bill Enyart, the Democratic candidate of the 12th U.S. House District, plan to meet with elderly voters in East St. Louis concerned about GOP plans to turn Medicare into a voucher system.
Durbin and Enyart plant to meet with the voters at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Clyde C. Jordan Senior Citizens Center, 6755 State St.
Enyart, who retired in June as commander of the Illinois National Guard with the rank of major general, is facing GOP nominee Jason Plummer and Green Party candidate Paula Bradshaw in the Nov. 6 election. The three candidates are seeking to replace U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello, who is retiring after 24 years in office.
