A Belleville man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after forcing his way into his mother's apartment in Shiloh and allegedly battering her "significantly," according to Shiloh Police Chief Jim Stover.
Michael A. Parr, 27, of Belleville was charged Friday by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office with aggravated domestic battery, a felony, and domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
Stover said Parr forced his way into his mother's apartment in the 500 block of Williamsburg Drive in Shiloh. Police found his mother in her bathroom with a wound to her head. She was able to call 9-1-1 prior to Parr gaining access to her apartment. The woman was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital due to injuries to her head and ear.
"He battered her after he went in there and grabbed all his stuff," Stover said, noting Parr had been staying with his mother "off and on."
Shiloh police were able to arrest Parr, who fled the scene, a block away from his mother's apartment.
Parr is currently being held in St. Clair County Jail. Bond was set by St. Clair County Judge Brian Babka at $40,000.
