A new bar and restaurant in downtown Belleville had a brief soft opening and open house during the weekend and is preparing to open for good by next week.
Tavern on Main at 301 E. Main St., at the corner of East Main and Church streets, served drinks during last weekend's Chili Cook-off and has since closed to prepare for its official grand opening next week. When it reopens, the business will also open its kitchen and begin offering food service.
Dunkin' Donuts announced its plans to add three more doughnut shops in the metro-east. The company announced new franchisees Dean Kreher and Ted Pierce will open three locations in the metro-east but could not specify where. Last March, Dunkin' Donuts opened its newest local eatery at 6008 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights. The doughnut chain also has a store at 819 Edwardsville Road in Troy.
Big Reggie's Famous BBQ opened for business at 4004 W Main St. in Belleville. Ownership claims to have "the best barbecue north of Memphis" and operated another barbecue restaurant on Lebanon Avenue for about three years until 2001. Subliminal Grilled Subs is now in Troy. Located at 904 Edwardsville Road, this is the third locale for the sub sandwich shop chain. The first was established at 141 S. The folks from Federico Chrysler Dodge in Wood River anticipates opening a new used car lot in Swansea as soon as today, if not later this week. Federico Pre-owned Center will be at 4501 N. Illinois St., where another used auto lot known as Car Hop operated at one time. Prior to that, Enterprise Rent A Car sold used vehicles from its fleet there.
An exotic reptile pet store in Fairview Heights is expanding. Tye-Dyed Iguana at 1905 West U.S. 50 now occupies a neighboring space for a total of 9,000 square feet. You can call the pet store at 624-8003.

And finally, Glik Stores is celebrating its 115-year anniversary and is marking the occasion by opening three new Glik's stores. One just opened in Jacksonville, the second opens next week in Iron Mountain, Mich. and the third store opens next month in Holland, Mich. That will give the Granite City-based chain of retail clothing and apparel stores a total of 60 locations, the most in Glik's history.
