The following incidents were listed among the official reports of local law enforcement agencies and court clerks. Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
BELLEVILLE POLICE
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 10
10:55 a.m. Investigation possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID -- Executive Inn, 1234 Centerville Ave. Officers responded to a report of occupants who were in possession of several guns, including a sawed off shotgun. Officers made contact with the occupants. Numerous hypodermic syringes, cannabis, unknown white powder and a sawed off shotgun was located in the room. Neither occupant/suspect possessed a valid FOID card. The suspects were arrested, transported and later transported to the St. Clair County Jail and held pending further investigation.
1:41 p.m. Retail theft -- Moto Mart, 701 W. Main St. The manager reported he observed Eli Griffin, 59, conceal merchandise and leave the store without purchasing it. Griffin was located and arrested. Griffin was transported and later released with a notice to appear.
2:42 p.m. Retail theft -- Home Depot, 5501 Belleville Crossing. The suspect was observed by Home Depot asset protection concealing numerous items under this clothes. He then passed all points of sale with no attempt to pay for the items. The suspect complied with asset protection and was held until officer arrival. The suspect was arrested, transported and held pending retail theft subsequent charges.
8:04 p.m. Suspicious incident -- 2400 block of East Main Street. The reporting party stated his daughter was walking near their residence when two men from a neighbor's house began following her in a black Ford sedan. The vehicle came to a stop and the two subjects began to get out of the vehicle and come toward her, at which time she ran back home. He stated he has had recent problems with the neighbors and believes they are trying to intimidate and harass his family.
9 p.m. Residential burglary -- 800 block of Fort Henry Road. The victim reported she returned home and discovered her bedroom window shattered and several items missing from the residence. The incident occurred between 7:15 a.m. and 9 p.m.
THURSDAY, OCT. 11
1:01 a.m. Pedestrian check, possession of cannabis -- North 17th Street and Stevens. Trevaughn McSellers, 26, was arrested during a pedestrian check when officers discovered he had cannabis on his person and attempted to discard it in the officer's presence. McSellers was transported and held pending bond.
ST. CLAIR COUNTY FELONIES
THURSDAY, OCT. 11
Andre M. Thomas Jr., 24, of 1325 William St., Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on Aug. 29 by Illinois State Police. Thomas allegedly had in his possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
John B. Preston, 32, of 2 Nocturne Court, Belleville, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of cannabis, possession of a firearm without requisite firearm owner's identification card on May 24 by Illinois State Police. Preston allegedly had in his possession more than 30 grams but less than 500 grams of a substance containing cannabis; knowingly possessed a firearm, a 12-gauge shotgun, without having in his possession a FOID card.
Qunntin L. Smart, 26, of 219 N. 68th St., East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon on July 17 by Illinois State Police. Smart allegedly carried on or about his person a .25-caliber pistol at a time when he was not on his own land, or in his own abode, or fixed place of business, uncased, loaded and immediately accessible. Defendant had not been issued a current FOID card.
Diane Beauford, 2903 Waverly Ave., Apt. 804, East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on March 28 by Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois. Beauford allegedly had in her possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
Joseph B. Stenger, 38, of 209 Warrensburg Drive, Belleville, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on April 2 by Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois. Stenger allegedly had in his possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
James E. Robinson, 50, of 55 St. Ambrose Blvd., Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on April 3 by Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois. Robinson allegedly had in his possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
Iola N. Torres, 38, of 1838 Cleveland Ave., Apt. A, East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on April 3 by Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois. Torres allegedly had in her possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
Damarcus A. Boyd, 27, of 5308 Caseyville Ave., Washington Park, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on March 28 by Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois. Boyd allegedly had in his possession a substance containing Hydrocodone.
Darryl D. Reese, 49, of 630 N. 38th St., East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of retail theft, subsequent offense on Oct. 10 by Belleville police. Reese allegedly took merchandise from Home Depot, 5501 Belleville Crossing, Belleville, being a door lock, a knife set, screws and other merchandise, total retail value not in excess of $300. Defendant had been previously convicted of Retail theft on Aug. 12, 1999.
Korey L. Rush, 43, of 149 Wild Rose Drive, Belleville, arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a revoked driver's license on Oct. 11 by Fairview Heights police. Rush allegedly drove a white 2005 Acura TL on St. Clair Ave., in Fairview Heights, while the defendant was under the influence of alcohol and during a period in which the defendant's driving privileges were revoked.
Leonard D. Wright, 30, of 26 Sarpy Road, Apt. D, Shiloh, arrested on suspicion of three counts of violation order of protection, subsequent on Sept. 30 by Shiloh police. Wright allegedly having been served with the contents of an order of protection, knowingly commit an act which was prohibited by the order of protection in that said defendant came within 500 feet of Tatiyana Wright, Learon Wright Jr. and Lemylah Wright, a protected parties. Defendant has been previously convicted of domestic battery on May 10, 2012.
Terry A. Cotton Jr., 24, of 702 Shabin Drive, Shiloh, arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, subsequent offense on Sept. 15 by St. Clair County sheriff. Cotton allegedly made physical contact with Cerue C. Cotton, a family/household member, by grabbing her with his hands and shook her. Defendant had been previously convicted of domestic battery on Dec. 30, 2011.
Iniki R. Cruise, 19, of 807 St. Williams Drive, Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of armed robbery on Sept. 26 by Belleville police. Cruise allegedly while armed with a dangerous weapon, a firearm, knowingly took property, being U.S. currency from the person of Frank Bell, by the use of force.
Gary W. Harrwood, 49, of 109 Cornelius Drive, Shiloh, arrested on suspicion of theft between Sept. 1, 2011, and April 1 by Shiloh police. Harrwood allegedly took property from Kimberly Benson, being U.S. currency, total value in excess of $500.
Terrance L. Funches, 26, of 13 Judith Drive, Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, resisting a peace officer on Oct. 10 by Fairview Heights police. Funches allegedly possessed with the intent to deliver 30 grams or more but less than 500 grams of a substance containing cannabis; knowingly resisted the performance of Robert Belba of an authorized act within his official capacity, being the arrest of Terrance Funches, knowing Robert Belba to be a peace officer engaged in the execution of his official duties, in that he refused to be handcuffed, and the actions of the defendant were the proximate cause of injury to Robert Belba.
Aaron C. Thomas, 17, of 747 St. Nicholas Drive, Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of mob action on Sept. 21 by Cahokia police. Thomas allegedly, by the use of force and violence, disturbed the public peace in that he while acting together with Javion Ramsey, swung his arm at Dan Williams, thereby placing Dan Williams in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery.
