A 26-year-old East St. Louis man was sentenced Friday to 60 months in prison for making false statements in purchasing a firearm.
Harry Truman Steward, also known as "Harry O," was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis for conspiracy to make a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, two counts of aiding and abetting a false statement during the purchase of a firearm and drug user in possession of a firearm. He was also ordered to pay a $400 fine, a $400 special assessment, and to serve three years of supervised release following imprisonment.
Steward has been in custody since his arrest on Jan. 3.
