Grizzlies released 2013 schedule

The Gateway Grizzlies have released their 2013 schedule. Gateway will play four exhibition games and 96 regular season games.

The Grizzlies will stay in the West Division with the Joliet Slammers, Normal CornBelters, River City Rascals, Rockford RiverHawks, Schaumburg Boomers and Windy City ThunderBolts.

Gateway's first exhibition game takes place at home on May 8th against Southern Illinois.

The Grizzlies open up regular season playFriday, May 17, at Lake Erie. Gateway's 2013 home opener is against Joliet on Tuesday, May 21.

In contrast to previous seasons, the Grizzlies will have every Monday off in June and only four off days in August. Gateway will play 15 home games in June and are once again at home for the 4th of July week.

The Frontier League has added the Frontier Greys, a traveling team for the 2013 season, keeping the league at 14 teams for 2013.

All regular season game times will be released in coming weeks.

Luncheon

SLU baseball coach to speak

The annual luncheon for Southwestern Illinois retired coaches, officials, athletic directors and school administrators is set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schiappa's Restaurant on the eastern edge of O'Fallon.

Guest speaker is St. Louis University baseball coach Darin Hendrickson. To register, call Otto Daech at 345-6792.
