BELLEVILLE — The BASIC Initiative is taking nominations through Oct. 26 to recognize "citizens of character" in the community.

For the fifth year, the Belleville Achieves Strength In Character Initiative will honor Belleville residents at a fundraising dinner for the nonprofit organization on Nov. 13.

Organizers said they especially are looking for "unsung individuals," or people who make an ongoing, positive difference in the community without the intention of drawing attention to themselves.
