Belleville blotter: Church vandalized, 4 windows broken out

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

MONDAY

8:54 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY - United Church of Christ, 26 N. 14th St. The church property had four windows broken out sometime over the weekend, by unknown means.

TUESDAY

12:20 a.m. DRUNKENNESS/LITTERING - 700 block of S. High. Officers responding to a report of a disturbance located Christopher Vanbibber, 28, who was found to be intoxicated and shouting profanities/racial slurs. Vanbibber also smashed a bottle in the roadway during the disturbance. He was transported to headquarters and held pending bond/sobriety.

3:07 a.m. TRAFFIC ACCIDENT-AGGRAVATED D.U.I./AGGRAVATED BATTERY - 200 block of Mascoutah Avenue. The suspect, a 33-year-old male, was arrested after his vehicle struck a building. The suspect left the scene on foot and was later located and appeared to be intoxicated. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries from the accident. While being treated, he battered a nurse.
