Do the Right Thing students to be honored at Shrine

Do The Right Thing will hold its October awards ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, said District 118 Superintendent Matt Klosterman.

To be recognized are:

Fionna Brennan from St. Jacob Elementary School in the Triad School District; Dallas Doss from Amelia Carriel Jr. High in O'Fallon; Josh McIntyre from Delores Moye Elementary School in O'Fallon; Isabella Peterson from Signal Hill School; and Amia Cumbee, Aidan Potter and Kaitlyn Potter from Westhaven Elementary School in Belleville.

Do the right thing is a program started in 2004 that is designed to recognize St. Louis area students who do good deeds. Nominations can come from peers or teachers. The top 10-12 good deeds each month are recognized in a formal ceremony.

The Southern Illinois Police Chiefs Association is a major sponsor of the program.
