Belleville blotter: Hit and run reported in Fletcher's parking lot

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

WEDNESDAY

4: 21 p.m. THEFT - Construction site, Illinois 158 and Centreville Avenue. The suspect, a 33-year-old male, was arrested after stealing metal from a construction site and attempting to sell it at Paule recycling. The suspect was transported to headquarters and held pending felony charges.

7:07 p.m. HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT - Fletcher's Restaurant, 6010 W. Main St. Officers responded to the restaurant for a report of a hit and run accident. On arrival, officers spoke with a witness who observed a red Jaguar, with Illinois registration, back out of a parking spot and strike another vehicle, then leave the scene. The vehicle was driven by an older male with gray hair.

8:31 p.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY - First block of East D St. The victim, a 42-year-old male, reported getting into an argument with the suspect, a 42-year-old male, at which time the suspect knocked over the victim's motorized bicycle, causing damage. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim signed a nontraffic citation against the suspect.
