Metro-east residents who plan to head to St. Louis over the weekend could have a tough time getting home on Interstate 64.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced it will close all lanes and ramps on eastbound I-64 between Jefferson Avenue and the Poplar Street Bridge starting at 8 p.m. Friday.
One lane and most ramps are expected to re-open by 5 a.m. Monday and all lanes are planned to re-open by 2 p.m. Monday for evening rush hour.
The Pine Street and Forest Park Avenue ramps to eastbound I-64 will remain closed for at least a week, until crews are able to complete joint work at the top of the ramps.
MODOT leaders said drivers should take Jefferson Avenue to eastbound Interstate 44 to get to the Poplar Street Bridge.
This is the first of three weekend closures on eastbound I-64 in November.
