Harrisburg grinds out win over Columbia

Published: November 3, 2012

— When they needed to sustain a drive to run out the clock, the Harrisburg Bulldogs turned to fullback Dylan Hathaway.

Hathaway had 36 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulldogs beat the Columbia Eagles 14-7 Saturday in a Class 4A playoff game.

The 5-foot-8, 217-pound Hathaway carried the ball on 12 consecutive plays as the Bulldogs ran the final six minutes off the clock.

The Eagles end their season at 9-2, while the Bulldogs improved to 10-1.

Trailing 14-0, the Eagles' Nick Antonini blocked a punt that teammate Adam Babb recovered.

The blocked punt set up a 16-yard touchdown pass from Logan Santanello to Eric Reed that got the Eagles with 14-7 with 2:26 left in the third quarter. The Eagles had two more possessions. The first ended with a fumble and the second ended with the Eagles being forced to punt.

The Bulldogs took over at their own 5-yard-line with six minutes to go, and Hathaway and the Bulldogs' huge offensive line was able to seal the win by keeping the ball.
