The Major Case Squad has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Madison.
Police also have in custody a person of interest in the death of Travon O. Bey, 23, of East St. Louis.
Madison police received a call at 4:30 p.m. about a man who had been shot in the home at 2028 Fifth St.
Bey was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:05 p.m. Saturday.
A total of 20 investigators from the Major Case Squad were pursuing leads in the investigation.
"We are making very good progress in this investigation," Major Case Squad Deputy Commander Brad Wells said early Sunday morning.
Information was obtained about persons who were present at the scene but fled before police arrived, and investigators were asking for those persons to contact authorities.
Police had been searching for a light green 1999 Ford Expedition, but they announced about 4:30 a.m. Sunday that it had been found, abandoned. The vehicle had been removed from the residence.
An autopsy was pending on the victim.
