Polls closed across metro-east; now we await the results

Published: November 6, 2012

Polls closed across the metro-east in the 7 o'clock hour Tuesday, turning election day into a waiting game for politicians and the people who voted for them.

There were no reports of long delays or impropriety at voting booths across Madison and St. Clair counties.

As of nearly 8 p.m., St. Clair County had yet to report any election results.

Return later to bnd.com for up-to-the-minute election results for scores of metro-east races.

Lines moved quickly after an early rush of voters hit the polls just after they opened.

Voters made their way to the polls in a light drizzle throughout the afternoon, but the chilly weather seemed to have no impact on turnout.
