Compassion for storm victims

Published: November 6, 2012

WHILE I SPENT time in the waiting room of a local auto dealer, the TV played out coverage of the Perfect Storm's devastation on the East Coast. Another customer, a crippled and folded-up old man leaning on his cane, opined that "the East got what they deserved." His angry expression was as crippled, as ugly and twisted as his body posture and facial expressions. If the man who owns this opinion claims he is Christian and a patriot, I must ask: Where is that American patriotism and compassion of Jesus in your view of this nation?

No one, no one, deserves to lose property or suffer death and injury from an act of nature. By virtue of the aid, manpower and equipment being transported to the East for relief, we are a United States, reaching out to our fellow countrymen. But not by virtue of this man's vitriol. Please sir, whoever you may be, consider the consequences of your pronouncement and wish.
