The following reports appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:
MONDAY
2:21 p.m. Fraud - First block of Lake Shore Drive. The victim, an 83-year-old male, reported he was contacted on Oct. 25 by an unknown person claiming to be his grandson needing money to get out of jail, somewhere overseas. The victim sent the money. He was contacted again the following day stating he needed to send more money. The victim sent more money. The victim contacted his grandson today and discovered his grandson did not request the money and had not been overseas.
Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
