Alan J. Dunstan won re-election as the Madison County Board chairman Tuesday with all 225 precincts reporting.

The complete but unofficial results showed Dunstan, a Democrat, netting 64,417 votes and Chris Slusser, the Republican challenger, receiving 51,956 votes.

Dunstan has served the county in that capacity for two terms, with seven terms on the County Board preceding his election to chairman.

In the circuit clerk election, Mark Von Nida, who has served as the Madison county clerk for 15 years, replaces Judy Nelson who was sworn in in June after circuit clerk Matt Melucci died in May.

In other contested Madison County races, Democrats swept the election. All county positions up for election, except county recorder, were held by incumbents. For the County Recorder position, Republican Matt Rice was defeated by Democrat Amy M. Meyer by just over 8,000 votes.

In the Madison County Board race all challenged incumbents held their seats and the board remains dominated by Democrats with 19 Democratic seats and 10 seats held by Republicans.
