Incumbent Dan Beiser was leading challenger Kathy Smith with partial returns in the race for state representative in the 111th Illinois House district.

The latest vote totals:

Dan Beiser (D): 26,543

Kathy Smith (R): 18,837

Beiser, the four-term representative from Alton, was seeking his fifth term in the House. Smith, of Alton, is an attorney.

The district covers the northern and western parts of Madison County and a small chunk of southeastern Jersey County.
