A pair of 18-year-old men have been charged in connection with break-ins at a gun store and a lawn care service.
The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged Luke Scaggs, of Collinsville, and Justin Wegner, of O'Fallon, with two counts each of burglary. The U.S. Attorney's Office issued federal warrants against the teens in connection with the theft from the gun shop, which is licensed by the federal government. They were held at the St. Clair County jail on $50,000 bail.
According to O'Fallon Police Capt. Jeff Wild, the pair stole 13 guns and a pair of laptop computers from Ron and Jo's Firearms and Supply Store at 1562 Frontage Road and Tee Time Lawn Care at 1566 Frontage Road, both in O'Fallon.
Investigators received an anonymous tip that led to the identification of the two suspects.
O'Fallon police; the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Illinois State Police worked together to solve the case and recover all of the stolen weapons and computers, according to Wild.
