Game time moved for McKendree

— The first serve for the McKendree University volleyball match on Saturday at the University of Indianapolis has been moved up one hour. The Bearcats and Greyhounds will face each other on Saturday in a contest set for a 1 p.m. CT start .

The match has been moved up one hour from its original start time of 2 p.m. CT. McKendree will be playing in its 2012 season finale in the contest. Indianapolis, the No. 15-ranked team in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, will be holding its Senior Day activities prior to the match.

McKendree has an overall record of 14-15, while the Bearcats are 8-8 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

McKendree is currently tied for fifth place in the East Division standings, and will open its final weekend of play with a 7 p.m. Friday match at Saint Joseph's College in Renssalaer, Ind.

McKendree was defeated in three sets by the University of Southern Indiana at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center in their final home match. The visiting Eagles took the best-of-five contest by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-17.

Prior to the contest, the Bearcats honored their lone senior, defensive specialist Laura Payne. In her final home appearance, Payne collected four digs from the back row.

Against Southern Indiana, freshman outside hitter Hannah Wessel (Gibault) collected a team-best 10 kills, while freshman middle hitter Lauren Apetz and junior outside hitter Maureen Nesbit (Althoff) each added nine attacks. Junior setter Abby Hanger (Belleville West) registered 31 assists in the effort. Junior libero Maddie Kelly handled a team-best 14 digs from the back row as Nesbit added 10 digs.
